About Synesthesia

history and whatnot

Yunri's exposure to graphic design initially started in sixth grade (2004) when she created a Xanga (which she still updates to this day) and began using pretty backgrounds and eventually layouts. She set up her first graphics site, SkyRaze, two years later, which offered a few plain Xanga layouts and never really got anywhere. Yunri closed that down in the late spring of 2007 and then opened In Finesse, a graphics & cosplay site, which also didn't get very far, especially because she lost Internet access from her computer for three months... June-August '07 was an extremely depressing summer (anyone sense a second Dark Age?) for her.

During that time, Yunri decided to join Collaboracon (an icon competition) and met the wonderful Ren, who offered to give one of her domains to Yunri. With eiun.net in place, Yunri finally decided to open a website solely for graphics. And thus, Synesthesia was born on September 2, 2007. :D

The Name

sin-ehs-thees-see-a

syn·es·the·sia - a sensation produced in one modality when a stimulus is applied to another modality, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualization of a certain color.

You have no idea how long it took me to decide on a name for this site. I probably brainstormed (with not much luck) for a month or two and came up with a few names that I really liked... but it was hard to choose just one and throw away the others. I eventually decided to go with 'Synesthesia', because it's something I've been intrigued with ever since reading a book about it four years ago. I also thought the idea kind of fit with the concept of colors & creative styles the webdesign world harbors.

Comments: It took me three tries to make a layout for Synesthesia, and I was finally happy when finished with this one. I've always loved this image of Sakura & Syaoron, so I tried making a layout out of it. And voila. :]
